Bucket List

We’ve horribly neglected updating our blog but we have some new stuff that we want to start posting and we want to share it with you all. We felt like being more adventurous this month so we thought we would challenge ourselves to a month long mini bucket list. It’s a pretty simple idea: create a list and check it off. We are both fabulous list-checker-offers but this list is less mundane and way more exciting. We each made a short list of tasks that we have never done but I have always wanted to try. We are giving ourselves one month to complete the list and we have to take a picture during each event. Once we are done we will report back and hopefully have some interesting stories to share.

Sarah’s List:
1. Try 24 hour juice cleanse
2. Bake cookies and deliver them to my local hospital nursing staff, police, and fire department and thank them personally for what they do
3. Attend a wine tasting
4. Help someone else check off something on their bucket list.

Amanda’s List:
1. Take a Spin Class
2. Attend a baking or cake decorating clas
3. Read the book “To All The Men I’ve Loved” from LC’s Book Club
4. Attend a workshop or training for career development

We are really inspired to maximize this month by trying new things and going out of our  comfort zones. At the end of March we will follow up with how things went.

Monthly Goals- May 2014

Happy May! Holy cow.. can you believe how fast April flew by? Our calendars were packed solid with twirling contests, auditions, fundraisers, golf tournaments, ring ceremonies, school work, Netflix, etc. We are so excited that May is here because 1) It’s Sarah’s Birthday month and 2) it is the beginning of Summer!!!  To start off our Monthly Goal blog post we are going to update you on how we did on last month’s goals.

Sarah’s April Recap:

1. Study for the GRE 4 time a week – Complete joke! HA! I was a little too preoccupied with my current undergrad assignments (over 25 pages of written assignments, 5 quizzes, 4 exams, 1 group project, plus studying for 3 final exams). The closest I got to opening my book was pulling it off my shelf only to put it back down on my desk. Whoops! Good thing I believe in second chances.

2. Focus on the positive – It’s crazy how writing down things that you are thankful for can change your attitude. I wrote down the mundane and the monumental and it made me realize how much the good can outweigh the bad.

3. Use less heat on my hair –  I did surprisingly well on this goal and I know my ends appreciated a break from all the heat.

Amanda’s April Recap:

  1. Cut down on sweets- This has been my most successful goal yet! Even though I still enjoy a cookie everynow and then I have really cut back. However, I am not sure how much longer I can do this one with the new Sonic Blue Raspberry with Nerds Blast. Seriously.. they are amazing!2. I love my May Book Planner- I use it everyday and it is too too cute!

    3. Laundry once a week- HAHA.. epic fail!

Now, onto our May goals!

may goals

Sarah’s May Goals:

1. Study for the GRE – let’s try this again.

2. Start my summer reading list – I have been wanting to read all of Shauna Niequist’s books for a while now but school has always been in the way. This summer I want to dedicate each month to read Cold Tangerines, Bittersweet, and Bread & Wine.

3. To eat out less – Whenever my pantry and refrigerator suddenly becomes empty I tend to go buy meals rather than going grocery shopping. I want to start eating in more regularly. Hopefully this will trim my waistline instead of my wallet.

Amanda’s May Goals:

  1.  Focus more on the positive. It is so easy to get sucked into negative toxic conversations and I would much rather spend my time being positive!
  2.  Respond to text messages and phone calls faster. I have gotten into such a horrible habit of not responding promptly and I hate it.
  3.  I will be having surgery on my hip next week and my goal is to be able to put weight on my foot by the end of the month!

So, how did you do on your monthly goals for April? What do you hope to improve about yourself during the lovely month of May?

Monthly Goals- April 2014

Happy End of the Month! If we could pick one word to describe March, we would choose “Wow!” It has been such a crazy, busy, whirlwind of a month for both of us but we are still standing! To start off our Monthly Goal blog post we are going to update you on how we did on last month’s goals.

Sarah’s March Recap:

  1. I actually woke up at 8 twice. Most of the time I would wake up between 8:15- 8:30. So that is definitely an improvement!
  2. Writing everything down in my handy dandy planner helped me a TON. I highly recommend it 🙂
  3. I only had two Diet Cokes the WHOLE month! How awesome is that?

Amanda’s March Recap:

  1. My road to becoming a morning person is turning out to be more of long distance goal than what I was planning. I only woke up at 6:30 about 5 times during March. However, I have been able to wake up a lot earlier lately and have had a lot more “Me” time. I am waking up around 7 or 7:15 every morning rather than waking up at 8:15 and running around like a crazy person trying to get ready for the day!
  2. Making my bed every morning is so simple, yet I still haven’t mastered the concept 100%. But that’s okay! I will keep working on it.
  3. I must say though, the first day I started walking it began snowing on my and my poor puppy. I was so mad and ready to give up on this goal before I even got started.. thankfully we stuck it out and are walking anywhere between 4-6 times a week and we LOVE it!

Now, onto our April goals!

Sarah’s April Goals:

  1. Start studying for the GRE  4 times a week.
  2. Focus more on the positive!  To do this, I am going to write down 3 things that I am thankful for each day! (Inspired by the book, One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, go read it!)
  3. Use less heat on my hair. I got a haircut during spring break and my ends were awful. I plan on donating my hair to Locks of  Love but before I do that my hair needs to be happy and healthy.

Amanda’s April Goals:

  1. Cut down on the sweets- Seriously, the cupcake place down the road now knows my name.
  2. (Stealing this one from Sarah) Start utilizing my new May Book Planner!
  3. Do laundry once a week.. rather than once a month like I am doing now.

So, how did you do on your monthly goals for March? What do you hope to improve about yourself during the lovely month of April?

Monthly Goals- March 2014

March Goals

With the start of a new month brings a fresh start. At the beginning of each month, each of us will post three goals that will either better ourselves or better other people. At the end of each month we will report back and share how we did. We hope this will encourage y’all to set goals for yourselves to work on each month right along with us. To maintain accountability, pick a good friend to do it with you and encourage one another throughout the month. Without further ado, here our both of our goals:

1. Become a morning person! I want to start waking up at 6:30 every morning so that I will have more “me” time before heading off to work. Hopefully this will translate into a better day at work!
2. Make my bed every morning. Sound silly? Here is my motivation: Why I Make My Bed {10 Reasons I Keep My House Clean} by Ruth Soukup
3. Take a walk outside at least 5 times a week. I injured my hip a while back so I basically have been getting no physical exercise since then… it is time for that to change! Plus, we could all use a little more Vitamin D in our life right?

1. Wake up at 8:00 am on Mondays. Having an extra 30 minutes of “me” time on Monday mornings will hopefully allow me feel more energize for the day and will kick start my week in a positive way.
2. Utilize my planner more and write EVERYTHING down. I definitely the queen of forgetting and lately I’ve been lacking in the memory department so hopefully this will keep more organized and maintain structure throughout my week.
3. Drink more water less diet coke. My nalgene bottle and I are going to become best friends.

We are super excited to get started on these goals and are looking forward to reporting how we did at the end of this month. We also hope we sparked some interest in our great readers and that y’all will now start setting monthly goals for yourselves.

Here goes nothing!
